Narrative:

While climbing through 500 ft on the las departure, the captain received a call from the #4 flight attendant. The flight attendant reported a strange vibration from the rear of the plane. We xchecked the engine instruments to find the engine N1/south split 3 to 4 percent and all other indications normal. Disconnected the autothrottles in order to sync the N1/south. Upon syncing the N1/south the captain called the #4 flight attendant. The flight attendant stated the vibration had ceased. We then duplicated the sound by again aligning eprs rather than the N1/south. The flight attendant confirmed the sound while the engines were out of sync and reported its absence while the N1/south were corrected. We continued the flight and completed the book checklist for engine sync unsatisfactory. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.

Title: MD80 CREW HAD RPTED VIBRATION IN THE CAB.

Narrative: WHILE CLBING THROUGH 500 FT ON THE LAS DEP, THE CAPT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE #4 FLT ATTENDANT. THE FLT ATTENDANT RPTED A STRANGE VIBRATION FROM THE REAR OF THE PLANE. WE XCHECKED THE ENG INSTS TO FIND THE ENG N1/S SPLIT 3 TO 4 PERCENT AND ALL OTHER INDICATIONS NORMAL. DISCONNECTED THE AUTOTHROTTLES IN ORDER TO SYNC THE N1/S. UPON SYNCING THE N1/S THE CAPT CALLED THE #4 FLT ATTENDANT. THE FLT ATTENDANT STATED THE VIBRATION HAD CEASED. WE THEN DUPLICATED THE SOUND BY AGAIN ALIGNING EPRS RATHER THAN THE N1/S. THE FLT ATTENDANT CONFIRMED THE SOUND WHILE THE ENGS WERE OUT OF SYNC AND RPTED ITS ABSENCE WHILE THE N1/S WERE CORRECTED. WE CONTINUED THE FLT AND COMPLETED THE BOOK CHECKLIST FOR ENG SYNC UNSATISFACTORY. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
