Narrative:
Both pilots heard tower say 'position and hold, be ready for immediate takeoff.' first officer read back same. Tower informed us as we crossed the hold line we were supposed to hold short. Subsequently cleared us for takeoff. Supplemental information from acn 531502: I read back very slowly the clearance we received to confirm the clearance. We both saw traffic on short final.

Title: MD80 FLC CHALLENGED BY IAH LCL CTLR WHEN TAXIING INTO POS FOR TKOF REQUIRING TWR TO ISSUE GAR.
Narrative: BOTH PLTS HEARD TWR SAY 'POS AND HOLD, BE READY FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF.' FO READ BACK SAME. TWR INFORMED US AS WE CROSSED THE HOLD LINE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT. SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED US FOR TKOF. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 531502: I READ BACK VERY SLOWLY THE CLRNC WE RECEIVED TO CONFIRM THE CLRNC. WE BOTH SAW TFC ON SHORT FINAL.
