Narrative:

We were cleared to land at iad on runway 12. We did. As we were passing a turnoff, which we did not feel would be prudent to use, tower told us to take that turnoff. We told tower that we were unable and tower instructed us to take the next exit, which we did. Traffic which was to land behind us was told to go around, which they did. After clearing the runway, we were told to contact ground control, which we did. We were told to phone tower after we parked at the gate. We did and the ATC tower supervisor told us that traffic behind us had to go around. We listened and apologized. The suggestions that I have for this situation are as follows: we were cleared to land. Maybe approach or tower could have told traffic behind us to slow to final approach speed, or asked us to make the first turnoff while we were on approach.

Title: IAD LCL CTLR ISSUES GAR WHEN BA41 IS UNABLE TO EXIT ISSUED TXWY.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AT IAD ON RWY 12. WE DID. AS WE WERE PASSING A TURNOFF, WHICH WE DID NOT FEEL WOULD BE PRUDENT TO USE, TWR TOLD US TO TAKE THAT TURNOFF. WE TOLD TWR THAT WE WERE UNABLE AND TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TAKE THE NEXT EXIT, WHICH WE DID. TFC WHICH WAS TO LAND BEHIND US WAS TOLD TO GO AROUND, WHICH THEY DID. AFTER CLRING THE RWY, WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT GND CTL, WHICH WE DID. WE WERE TOLD TO PHONE TWR AFTER WE PARKED AT THE GATE. WE DID AND THE ATC TWR SUPVR TOLD US THAT TFC BEHIND US HAD TO GO AROUND. WE LISTENED AND APOLOGIZED. THE SUGGESTIONS THAT I HAVE FOR THIS SIT ARE AS FOLLOWS: WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. MAYBE APCH OR TWR COULD HAVE TOLD TFC BEHIND US TO SLOW TO FINAL APCH SPD, OR ASKED US TO MAKE THE FIRST TURNOFF WHILE WE WERE ON APCH.
