Narrative:

Columbus approach had us on vectors for the ILS runway 28L and had given us a descent from 5000 ft to 3000 ft. At 3800 ft, columbus approach gave us a leveloff at 4000 ft, traffic 3000 ft, 12 O'clock position, 6 mi, opposite direction. We climbed back to 4000 ft. We had gotten a TA alert at 3800 ft also. I saw the traffic pass our right side a short time later. Approach apologized for the error.
