Narrative:

Taxi for takeoff. Instrument student at controls. Student and instructor unfamiliar with acy airport. We requested taxi progressives and were directed to runway 22. The runway was not clearly marked and ground control did not advise us of our position in time and we crossed the active runway instead of holding.
