Narrative:

Company X may have installed a propeller that was not meant to be installed on my aircraft type of model. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated when shown the propeller it had a yellow parts tag but was removed and not given to the owner for the aircraft records. The reporter said that when operating the airplane a low frequency hum was noted and the reporter asked a local technician to inspect the propeller. The reporter stated the technician found the incorrect propeller installed and no parts tag in the logbook records. The reporter said the local FSDO was advised and have started an investigation of the maintenance shop and have impounded the propeller. The owner made a reasonable offer to settle for a new propeller to avoid litigation but the shop manager refused. The reporter said the case went to court and the shop lost but have not delivered the propeller.
