Narrative:

Around XA00, I went into the cockpit to relieve the first officer. I sat on the edge of the third jump seat (behind the first officer's jump seat). About 1/2 - 1 min later, we hit turbulence. I fell, hitting my left elbow on the rim or hinge of the 4TH jump seat and landing on my ribs on I believe the suitcases under it (behind the captain's jump seat). I put ice on my elbow, cleaned the cuts with iodine wipes. The captain informed the ground to call paramedics and strongly suggested that I pull myself off the trip and so what the paramedics suggest. (I ended up going to hospital in san juan for x-rays.)
