Narrative:

I departed YYY at approximately XA20 pm on saturday night, 11/sat/01. I planned a VFR flight at 11500 ft direct to XXX, direct to WWW, direct to yzz. This would allow for an acceptable distance from the restr area around xzz, even if it went to 8 mi, while I was flying, vs the standard 5 mi. Between XXX and WWW, I was talking with my student, autoplt on, when I looked down and noticed that I was probably too close to ZZZ. The GPS course I had set told me to correct 12 degrees to the right. I immediately turned to a southerly heading to get back on course. A few mins later, I was intercepted by a military aircraft, I'm not sure what type. He flew from left to right, directly underneath me, with an immediate turn to the left and ahead of me. I tuned to 121.5 to see if he was trying to contact me. I then tuned on my other radio to contact ZZZ approach to let them know what was happening. I planned to contact them soon anyway, since I needed to descend down through the class B. I could not get a reply from ZZZ approach. I then called xyz approach, they gave me a different frequency for ZZZ approach. I don't remember what frequency it was, but I got a reply and a transponder code. By this time the military aircraft had already flown by from left to right, directly underneath me, for the second time, but then went out-of-sight. I continued my direct path to yzz with clearance from ZZZ approach to descend into the enhanced class B. Upon reporting 'airport in sight' he had a phone number for me to call ZZZ center. After explaining what happened to the desk watch on duty, he took my name and number and said that he would forward it to the military and they might call me.

Title: A CESSNA 177RG MADE AN INADVERTENT INCURSION INTO RESTR AIRSPACE CAUSED BY LACK OF AWARENESS IN MONITORING THE AUTOPLT PERFORMANCE.

BETWEEN XXX AND WWW, I WAS TALKING WITH MY STUDENT, AUTOPLT ON, WHEN I LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THAT I WAS PROBABLY TOO CLOSE TO ZZZ. THE GPS COURSE I HAD SET TOLD ME TO CORRECT 12 DEGS TO THE R. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED TO A SOUTHERLY HEADING TO GET BACK ON COURSE. A FEW MINS LATER, I WAS INTERCEPTED BY A MILITARY ACFT, I'M NOT SURE WHAT TYPE. HE FLEW FROM L TO R, DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH ME, WITH AN IMMEDIATE TURN TO THE L AND AHEAD OF ME. I TUNED TO 121.5 TO SEE IF HE WAS TRYING TO CONTACT ME. I THEN TUNED ON MY OTHER RADIO TO CONTACT ZZZ APCH TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I PLANNED TO CONTACT THEM SOON ANYWAY, SINCE I NEEDED TO DESCEND DOWN THROUGH THE CLASS B. I COULD NOT GET A REPLY FROM ZZZ APCH. I THEN CALLED XYZ APCH, THEY GAVE ME A DIFFERENT FREQ FOR ZZZ APCH. I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT FREQ IT WAS, BUT I GOT A REPLY AND A TRANSPONDER CODE. BY THIS TIME THE MILITARY ACFT HAD ALREADY FLOWN BY FROM L TO R, DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH ME, FOR THE SECOND TIME, BUT THEN WENT OUT-OF-SIGHT. I CONTINUED MY DIRECT PATH TO YZZ WITH CLRNC FROM ZZZ APCH TO DESCEND INTO THE ENHANCED CLASS B. UPON RPTING 'ARPT IN SIGHT' HE HAD A PHONE NUMBER FOR ME TO CALL ZZZ CTR. AFTER EXPLAINING WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DESK WATCH ON DUTY, HE TOOK MY NAME AND NUMBER AND SAID THAT HE WOULD FORWARD IT TO THE MILITARY AND THEY MIGHT CALL ME.
