Narrative:

After being cleared onto runway 26L, we noticed a TCAS symbol indicating an aircraft on final 600 ft breaking out of the cloud deck. The captain stopped our aircraft after noticing the aircraft on final. We were not yet on the runway, however our nose had progressed over the hold short line. We queried the tower about the aircraft on final. He then told the aircraft on final to go around. The aircraft going around asked the reason for the go around. The tower controller stated that there had been confusion with the north and south runway (26R/26L). We then were given clearance to take off. Remainder of flight uneventful.
