Narrative:

I was cleared to taxi from runup area to runway 20R by ground control. I was looking for the hold short line. The hold short line was visible as a single line only at night. I was momentarily confused because I was looking for the hold short and not a single line. I realized my error when I saw the runway edge lighting. I waited there for further clearance. There was no traffic in the pattern. I was cleared for takeoff. I believe that the problem was caused by faded hold short paint on taxiway. I had no problem with visibility earlier the same day at the same spot. Solutions: reflective paint for hold short markings.
