Narrative:
I was cleared to taxi from runup area to runway 20R by ground control. I was looking for the hold short line. The hold short line was visible as a single line only at night. I was momentarily confused because I was looking for the hold short and not a single line. I realized my error when I saw the runway edge lighting. I waited there for further clearance. There was no traffic in the pattern. I was cleared for takeoff. I believe that the problem was caused by faded hold short paint on taxiway. I had no problem with visibility earlier the same day at the same spot. Solutions: reflective paint for hold short markings.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM RUNUP AREA TO RWY 20R BY GND CTL. I WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS VISIBLE AS A SINGLE LINE ONLY AT NIGHT. I WAS MOMENTARILY CONFUSED BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR THE HOLD SHORT AND NOT A SINGLE LINE. I REALIZED MY ERROR WHEN I SAW THE RWY EDGE LIGHTING. I WAITED THERE FOR FURTHER CLRNC. THERE WAS NO TFC IN THE PATTERN. I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. I BELIEVE THAT THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY FADED HOLD SHORT PAINT ON TXWY. I HAD NO PROB WITH VISIBILITY EARLIER THE SAME DAY AT THE SAME SPOT. SOLUTIONS: REFLECTIVE PAINT FOR HOLD SHORT MARKINGS.
