Narrative:

On security check of aircraft I open main gear door by opening bypass lever, I put the doors up manually but forgot to close bypass lever. Aircraft flying for air carrier took off and returned with gear doors down and doors suffered slight damage. I believe the only thing to prevent this from happening again is not to close doors manually, but to use hydraulics as doors will come up with hydraulic, but won't when lever is down.

Narrative: ON SECURITY CHECK OF ACFT I OPEN MAIN GEAR DOOR BY OPENING BYPASS LEVER, I PUT THE DOORS UP MANUALLY BUT FORGOT TO CLOSE BYPASS LEVER. ACFT FLYING FOR ACR TOOK OFF AND RETURNED WITH GEAR DOORS DOWN AND DOORS SUFFERED SLIGHT DAMAGE. I BELIEVE THE ONLY THING TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IS NOT TO CLOSE DOORS MANUALLY, BUT TO USE HYDRAULICS AS DOORS WILL COME UP WITH HYD, BUT WON'T WHEN LEVER IS DOWN.
