Narrative:

Aircraft is based at W05. Fuel farm was down for repairs. Flight was BFR instructional. Both fuel tank indicators showed just below 1/4 tank. Each tank has 13 gallon capacity. Fuel stick seemed to verify that there were at least 3 gallons in each tank. The flight to fdk is 15 mins. I determined we could reach fdk with at least 45 mins of fuel remaining, which exceeds the 30 min VFR required. Reached airport with no problems. Had both tanks topped off. If pump indicator is accurate, it indicated we only had 1.5 gallons remaining. This is less than the 30 min requirement. No accident, incident, or injuries.

Title: A C152 CFI FLIES HIS ACFT WITH LESS FUEL THAN REQUIRED TO SATISFY THE 30 MIN VFR REQUIREMENT AFTER DIPPING HIS TANKS AT W05, MD.

Narrative: ACFT IS BASED AT W05. FUEL FARM WAS DOWN FOR REPAIRS. FLT WAS BFR INSTRUCTIONAL. BOTH FUEL TANK INDICATORS SHOWED JUST BELOW 1/4 TANK. EACH TANK HAS 13 GALLON CAPACITY. FUEL STICK SEEMED TO VERIFY THAT THERE WERE AT LEAST 3 GALLONS IN EACH TANK. THE FLT TO FDK IS 15 MINS. I DETERMINED WE COULD REACH FDK WITH AT LEAST 45 MINS OF FUEL REMAINING, WHICH EXCEEDS THE 30 MIN VFR REQUIRED. REACHED ARPT WITH NO PROBS. HAD BOTH TANKS TOPPED OFF. IF PUMP INDICATOR IS ACCURATE, IT INDICATED WE ONLY HAD 1.5 GALLONS REMAINING. THIS IS LESS THAN THE 30 MIN REQUIREMENT. NO ACCIDENT, INCIDENT, OR INJURIES.
