Narrative:

While at cruise FL370, aircraft encountered a strong mountain wave/updraft causing an aircraft overspd. The aircraft pitched up in respect of the protections provided under normal laws and could not be overridden by the flight crew. A 500 ft gain in altitude resulted and a TA caused by another aircraft overhead. Once the airspeed reduced, control of the aircraft was taken back manually and the altitude restored.
