Narrative:

A patient flight that I made to the ZZZ area 9/fri/01, was uneventful. I flew a patient again to the ZZZ area during the early morning hours of 10/tue/01. I avoided ZZZ class B as usual and contacted YYY tower for clearance through their class D, as usual. This time, the tower said I should have talked to ZZZ approach. I contacted approach and found out that the class B is no longer an 'upside wedding cake,' that within the lateral boundaries it extends from the surface to 18000 ft. We don't normally check the fdc NOTAMS when we fly VFR to the ZZZ area. Our computer only shows NOTAM (D), but the enhanced class B NOTAM is not posted there.
