Narrative:

While on approach into lax pdz 4 runway 24R, just prior to rifft, we were given a runway change to runway 25L. After I entered the new runway, the computer dumped the arrival fixes and altitude. While I was trying to load this information in the computer, approach gave us a frequency change before I changed the frequency. He told us to climb back up to 12000 ft we were at 11000 ft. Before leaving his frequency, I asked if this is a problem. He said no it was not. We should have had runway 25L backed up on the secondary flight plan. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: crew was flying an A320 airbus. Upon reflection, the crew realizes they should have refused the last min change. They will next time.

Narrative: WHILE ON APCH INTO LAX PDZ 4 RWY 24R, JUST PRIOR TO RIFFT, WE WERE GIVEN A RWY CHANGE TO RWY 25L. AFTER I ENTERED THE NEW RWY, THE COMPUTER DUMPED THE ARR FIXES AND ALT. WHILE I WAS TRYING TO LOAD THIS INFO IN THE COMPUTER, APCH GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE BEFORE I CHANGED THE FREQ. HE TOLD US TO CLB BACK UP TO 12000 FT WE WERE AT 11000 FT. BEFORE LEAVING HIS FREQ, I ASKED IF THIS IS A PROB. HE SAID NO IT WAS NOT. WE SHOULD HAVE HAD RWY 25L BACKED UP ON THE SECONDARY FLT PLAN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CREW WAS FLYING AN A320 AIRBUS. UPON REFLECTION, THE CREW REALIZES THEY SHOULD HAVE REFUSED THE LAST MIN CHANGE. THEY WILL NEXT TIME.
