Narrative:

On the initial call-up we were told to expect runway 4R at detroit. We are positive of this because neither of us knew dtw ever had a runway 4. After being cleared for the approach we figured out we had set up for runway 4 and they expected us to land runway 3. I asked him to clarify and we were given a visual approach. I don't know which approach the final controller cleared us for. But if there is a change from what we were given to expect I think they should make it very clear that this did change runways on you and make sure that you are aware of the change.
