Narrative:
While on a flight line and talking to columbus AFB approach for VFR advisories I was told to land my aircraft. I inquired as to the reason why and they told me 'they didn't have time to explain.' I asked as to whose airspace I was in and again was told 'we don't have time to explain.' I switched to memphis center and told the controller that columbus had told me to land and did he know anything about what was going on. I was advised that a national state of emergency had been declared and the FAA was landing all aircraft. I thanked the controller, switched back to columbus approach. I advised them that memphis center had advised me as to what was happening and where did he want me to land. Starkville, ms, stf, ws the closet airport and I landed there. In the time it took the controllers to say 'we don't have time to explain' they could just have easily told me what memphis center told me and I would have promptly landed.
