Narrative:

During 3RD break, takeoff plus 6.00, I was wondering if this was an atlantic or pacific aircraft. In other words, did it have bunks installed or not? When I opened bunkroom door, I observed no bunks, but a pallet of several blankets and a pillow on the floor, leading me to suspect someone on our crew had been sleeping in there. I advised the purser that this is against regulations, and to please advise the rest of the crew. I also advised her that it was not only contrary to company regulations, but also against far's. Although I couldn't tell her in writing, as part I does not address this, nor do I have any other source, other than hearsay, to refer to. The purser informed me that each purser packet contains an information sheet on this subject. I obtained one from the company office upon return to base, and noted a reference to FAA regulations, with no specific chapter and verse. It would be nice to have something in part I, pink bulletin even, which nails this down, as to company regulation and far regulation 91.9999, instead of some second hand mimeographed, unsigned copy which is inserted into the purser packet. Almost every time I point out something to another crew member that they didn't know, the first words out of their mouth are 'I didn't know that, where is that written?' right now, I don't, either. Signed, 'wish I knew.'

Title: A B777 CAPT IS CONCERNED THAT THE CREW REST POLICIES ARE NOT IN THEIR MANUAL.

Narrative: DURING 3RD BREAK, TKOF PLUS 6.00, I WAS WONDERING IF THIS WAS AN ATLANTIC OR PACIFIC ACFT. I ADVISED THE PURSER THAT THIS IS AGAINST REGS, AND TO PLEASE ADVISE THE REST OF THE CREW. I ALSO ADVISED HER THAT IT WAS NOT ONLY CONTRARY TO COMPANY REGS, BUT ALSO AGAINST FAR'S. ALTHOUGH I COULDN'T TELL HER IN WRITING, AS PART I DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS, NOR DO I HAVE ANY OTHER SOURCE, OTHER THAN HEARSAY, TO REFER TO. THE PURSER INFORMED ME THAT EACH PURSER PACKET CONTAINS AN INFO SHEET ON THIS SUBJECT. I OBTAINED ONE FROM THE COMPANY OFFICE UPON RETURN TO BASE, AND NOTED A REF TO FAA REGS, WITH NO SPECIFIC CHAPTER AND VERSE. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING IN PART I, PINK BULLETIN EVEN, WHICH NAILS THIS DOWN, AS TO COMPANY REG AND FAR REG 91.9999, INSTEAD OF SOME SECOND HAND MIMEOGRAPHED, UNSIGNED COPY WHICH IS INSERTED INTO THE PURSER PACKET.
