Narrative:

The student and I landed on runway 19R and were cleared by tower to exit the runway on taxiway X8. We thought the tower said 'cleared to the ramp and stay with me.' we then taxied via taxiway X to the north ramp. At the intersection of txwys X and G we called ground control to verify our taxi clearance and were told by tower we had not been cleared to taxi yet. The ground controller then advised us we had violated an far and gave us our taxi instructions. What I believe caused this problem is we had been doing touch and goes at another airport that day and on our last landing we taxied back to the runway. The tower controller said to stay with him as we taxied back. Then we departed back to dpa and had that last message on our minds. What I believe will prevent this from happening again is to always double-check with the controller if there is any doubt.

Title: AN INSTRUCTOR AND HIS STUDENT TAXI WITHOUT CLRNC AFTER LNDG AT DPA USING THE PROC THAT THEY HAD BEEN USING AT ANOTHER ARPT EARLIER IN THE DAY, WHICH WAS TO STAY WITH THE LCL CTLR FOR TAXI.

Narrative: THE STUDENT AND I LANDED ON RWY 19R AND WERE CLRED BY TWR TO EXIT THE RWY ON TXWY X8. WE THOUGHT THE TWR SAID 'CLRED TO THE RAMP AND STAY WITH ME.' WE THEN TAXIED VIA TXWY X TO THE N RAMP. AT THE INTXN OF TXWYS X AND G WE CALLED GND CTL TO VERIFY OUR TAXI CLRNC AND WERE TOLD BY TWR WE HAD NOT BEEN CLRED TO TAXI YET. THE GND CTLR THEN ADVISED US WE HAD VIOLATED AN FAR AND GAVE US OUR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. WHAT I BELIEVE CAUSED THIS PROB IS WE HAD BEEN DOING TOUCH AND GOES AT ANOTHER ARPT THAT DAY AND ON OUR LAST LNDG WE TAXIED BACK TO THE RWY. THE TWR CTLR SAID TO STAY WITH HIM AS WE TAXIED BACK. THEN WE DEPARTED BACK TO DPA AND HAD THAT LAST MESSAGE ON OUR MINDS. WHAT I BELIEVE WILL PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IS TO ALWAYS DOUBLE-CHK WITH THE CTLR IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT.
