Narrative:

Autospoilers failed to remain deployed on landing. They initially came back on touchdown and immediately retracted. Landing was normal to slightly firm but in no way unstuck and bounced. Airspeed, pitch and rate of descent were all normal. Autobrakes immediately disarmed on spoiler retraction. Ground spoilers stayed deployed when extended manually. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the landing was normal and the ground spoilers deployed and then immediately retracted and the autobrakes immediately disarmed on spoiler retraction. The reporter said maintenance checked the system finding no fault. The reporter stated he believes the problem is related to the landing gear position and the center of gravity. The reporter said in a smooth landing the main landing gear strut on initial touchdown raises slightly effectively putting the airplane in flight momentarily thus causing the retraction of the ground spoilers.

Title: AN MD-80 ON NORMAL LNDG THE GND SPOILERS DEPLOYED THEN IMMEDIATELY RETRACTED AND DISARMED AUTOBRAKING. AUTOSPOILERS DEPLOYED MANUALLY OK. CAUSE UNKNOWN.

Narrative: AUTOSPOILERS FAILED TO REMAIN DEPLOYED ON LNDG. THEY INITIALLY CAME BACK ON TOUCHDOWN AND IMMEDIATELY RETRACTED. LNDG WAS NORMAL TO SLIGHTLY FIRM BUT IN NO WAY UNSTUCK AND BOUNCED. AIRSPEED, PITCH AND RATE OF DSCNT WERE ALL NORMAL. AUTOBRAKES IMMEDIATELY DISARMED ON SPOILER RETRACTION. GND SPOILERS STAYED DEPLOYED WHEN EXTENDED MANUALLY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE LNDG WAS NORMAL AND THE GND SPOILERS DEPLOYED AND THEN IMMEDIATELY RETRACTED AND THE AUTOBRAKES IMMEDIATELY DISARMED ON SPOILER RETRACTION. THE RPTR SAID MAINT CHECKED THE SYS FINDING NO FAULT. THE RPTR STATED HE BELIEVES THE PROB IS RELATED TO THE LNDG GEAR POSITION AND THE CENTER OF GRAVITY. THE RPTR SAID IN A SMOOTH LNDG THE MAIN LNDG GEAR STRUT ON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN RAISES SLIGHTLY EFFECTIVELY PUTTING THE AIRPLANE IN FLT MOMENTARILY THUS CAUSING THE RETRACTION OF THE GND SPOILERS.
