Narrative:

I was practicing 'touch and goes' and the right landing gear on the J5 collapsed. The ear holding the bungee cords to the strut separated from the strut. Possible causes are: 1) rust inside of strut weakening strut, or 2) wrong size bungees installed. There was no damage to the plane other than the bungees and strut on the right side.

Title: A PIPER J5 INCURRED MINOR DAMAGE WHEN THE R LNDG GEAR COLLAPSED ON LNDG CAUSED BY A RUSTED BUNGEE EAR AND WRONG SIZE BUNGEE CORD.

Narrative: I WAS PRACTICING 'TOUCH AND GOES' AND THE R LNDG GEAR ON THE J5 COLLAPSED. THE EAR HOLDING THE BUNGEE CORDS TO THE STRUT SEPARATED FROM THE STRUT. POSSIBLE CAUSES ARE: 1) RUST INSIDE OF STRUT WEAKENING STRUT, OR 2) WRONG SIZE BUNGEES INSTALLED. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE PLANE OTHER THAN THE BUNGEES AND STRUT ON THE R SIDE.
