Narrative:

Maintenance brought aircraft to gate with east&east door open. Annunciator light for electrical compartment door, did not function, although it tested as operational. Door open was not observed during preflight. On takeoff aircraft would not pressurize, and loud noise was felt under cockpit. Declared emergency (for overweight landing) and landed without incident. East&east door was found open. Cause's: 1) maintenance left door open. 2) annunciator light for door was inoperative -- although unknown to the crew. 3) open door not observed on walkaround.
