Narrative:

FL310 cruise flight. I was PNF. We were talking to ZID where we were given a clearance to cross the knox VOR, 30 mi east of knox VOR, FL250, which I acknowledged. Set '250' in the altimeter window and the captain correctly verified. ATC queried us if we were going to make the crossing at 30 mi east at FL250. We were already over the crossing restr at that time FL310. We initiated immediate descent to FL250 and ATC did not require any further actions. First officer and captain forgot about the crossing restr. Contributing factor: first officer was up at XA00 and flight departed XC05, had 4 hours sleep that night.
