Narrative:

Radar frequency (sav ATCT) XXX.Y has had numerous outages since jul/tue/01. However XXX-Y main transmitter has been OTS for 5 days to present. The frequency has not been worked in a timely manner. I have advised management my concern. Solution: fix problem the day it occurs! Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: controller advised that, yes, the equipment was old when installed in 1977, and equipment problems are frequent. A new tower has been authority/authorized and construction will begin soon. New equipment will be installed, especially since the facility was notified that the local telecom company has advised that they will no longer provide repair support for the old equipment.
