Narrative:

On aug/wed/01 I was the first officer operating alb-pit. While in cruise at FL240 ZNY requested that we check our altimeter setting. Instead of 29.92 we had 30.30 on both altimeters, indicating almost 400 ft off of our assigned altitude. Upon being told of our deviation, we then corrected our altitude. Contributing factors were both crew members being distracted by studying charts, and myself giving a passenger briefing.
