Narrative:

Flight was a test flight of a recently rebuilt homebuilt racer. Traffic pattern entry was normal. Landing gear was selected down. The draft from tailwheel extension was felt. I was distraction and did not check that main gear extended (the hydraulic pump had not been turned on). During the flare, my father announced 'go around' using a hand-held radio. As power was added, I felt the tailwheel touch down and heard a faint ticking sound. I thought the ticking sound was the communication antenna dragging. The aircraft did a successful go around and a normal landing with the gear extended. Upon examination, the propeller blades had contacted the runway for a distance of 250 ft. I would attribute this incident to a combination of euphoria over a very successful test flight and fatigue from many long days of working on the aircraft.

Title: HOME BUILT RACER PLT FORGOT TO TURN ON THE HYD PUMP WHEN LOWERING THE LNDG GEAR CAUSING A PROP STRIKE PRIOR TO GOING AROUND FOR A NORMAL LNDG.
