Narrative:
Air carrier X was flying grb direct to mkg and then direct and landing grr. I accepted the handoff on air carrier X at FL270 with pilot's discretion to FL240. I accepted a handoff from ZAU on aircraft Y in level flight at FL230. I descended air carrier X to FL220 and the pilot's discretion to 11000 ft. I needed to get air carrier X underneath aircraft Y because he was landing. The conflict alert went off and I observed the airplanes and thought the air carrier X was descending at a fast enough rate to get underneath aircraft Y. I answered a line from tvc tower and 'another aircraft' (aircraft Z) and then realized I was going to lose separation. I tried to turn the air carrier X with no response and tried to call aircraft Y, but he was not on my frequency. At that time, I called my supervisor over and informed him that I was going to lose separation.

Title: ZMP CTLR PERCEIVES SUFFICIENT SEPARATION BTWN DSNDING DC9 AND A LEVEL FA10, BUT IS MADE AWARE OF A LOSS OF SEPARATION BY CONFLICT ALERT.
Narrative: ACR X WAS FLYING GRB DIRECT TO MKG AND THEN DIRECT AND LNDG GRR. I ACCEPTED THE HDOF ON ACR X AT FL270 WITH PLT'S DISCRETION TO FL240. I ACCEPTED A HDOF FROM ZAU ON ACFT Y IN LEVEL FLT AT FL230. I DSNDED ACR X TO FL220 AND THE PLT'S DISCRETION TO 11000 FT. I NEEDED TO GET ACR X UNDERNEATH ACFT Y BECAUSE HE WAS LNDG. THE CONFLICT ALERT WENT OFF AND I OBSERVED THE AIRPLANES AND THOUGHT THE ACR X WAS DSNDING AT A FAST ENOUGH RATE TO GET UNDERNEATH ACFT Y. I ANSWERED A LINE FROM TVC TWR AND 'ANOTHER ACFT' (ACFT Z) AND THEN REALIZED I WAS GOING TO LOSE SEPARATION. I TRIED TO TURN THE ACR X WITH NO RESPONSE AND TRIED TO CALL ACFT Y, BUT HE WAS NOT ON MY FREQ. AT THAT TIME, I CALLED MY SUPVR OVER AND INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS GOING TO LOSE SEPARATION.
