Narrative:

Runway incursion on runway 27R at oak. An incoming flight heard controller say that runway 27R was closed. On taxi for outbound flight, I read back 'runway 27R via taxiway east,' even though controller had probably said 'runway 27R at taxiway east.' he didn't correct me. When I arrived at runway 27R at taxiway east, I saw red cones blocking runway, so I assumed it was closed and I was to cross via taxiway east. Runway 27R only closed for arrs! Classic problem. I heard what I expected, not what controller said. He said to go to runway 27R at taxiway east. Note: maybe controllers should not say a runway is closed if it is only 1/2 closed.
