Narrative:
On left base to ILS runway 9 at swf, GPWS terrain warning alerted while IMC. I climbed the aircraft approximately 1000 ft to 5000 ft MSL. Advised ATC of climb. ATC stated we were above MVA. ILS runway 9 approach and landing were uneventful.

Narrative: ON L BASE TO ILS RWY 9 AT SWF, GPWS TERRAIN WARNING ALERTED WHILE IMC. I CLBED THE ACFT APPROX 1000 FT TO 5000 FT MSL. ADVISED ATC OF CLB. ATC STATED WE WERE ABOVE MVA. ILS RWY 9 APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL.
