Narrative:

Cleared for ILS runway 28R approach. Broke out at 750 ft and saw we were lined up runway 28L. Realized we had loaded runway 28L in error. We were stabilized, gear down, flaps 25 degrees, approach speed 155 KTS. Did a sidestep to runway 28R and landed. Approach control/tower never said anything about being off course. They were only landing runway 28R so we had no traffic conflict with runway 28L traffic. Bunkie had loaded runway 28L approach while we were resting in cruise. We briefed to a messed up approach. Lesson learned; do not assume anything -- doublechk and then check again. Supplemental information from acn 517885: returning from syd to sfo, relief pilots had entered approach to sfo runway 28R into FMC. In actuality, ILS runway 28L was selected. I was the first officer and the PF of a cockpit crew of 4. We were cleared for the ILS runway 28R, I armed the approach and flew a normal ILS. I turned the autoplt on at about 3000 ft and the automatic throttles at 1500 ft. We flew a normal approach to 1000 ft. At that time we all realized that we had entered, and flew, the wrong approach ILS runway 28L versus runway 28R. I visually sidestepped the aircraft and landed well in the touchdown zone of runway 28R. This occurred on jul/xa/01.
