Narrative:

Our filed route was over puerto plata (pta 115.1) and that was what was loaded in the FMS route pages. On taxi, we received our clearance, but instead of the snt 3A departure, we were cleared direct to la plata (pta 113.7) direct landa as filed. Now the problem begins. We typed in pta in the scratch pad and on the legs page, selected 1L. An option to select the correct pta was not given so all of the waypoints along our route up to puerto plata would have been erased. We caught that and proceeded with plan B. On the fix page, we selected pta and this time were given the option of selecting different pta fixes. We selected la plata (pta 113.7), took it down to the scratch pad, went to the legs page, and selected 1L. To our surprise, once again all of the waypoints between eze and puerto plata would have been erased, ie, the FMS did not recognize the fact that we wanted to go to la plata first -- not puerto plata. We departed using raw data. What's going on?

Title: B777 CREW HAD DIFFICULTY IN PROGRAMMING THE FMS FOR THE CLRED DEP IN SAEZ.

Narrative: OUR FILED RTE WAS OVER PUERTO PLATA (PTA 115.1) AND THAT WAS WHAT WAS LOADED IN THE FMS RTE PAGES. ON TAXI, WE RECEIVED OUR CLRNC, BUT INSTEAD OF THE SNT 3A DEP, WE WERE CLRED DIRECT TO LA PLATA (PTA 113.7) DIRECT LANDA AS FILED. NOW THE PROB BEGINS. WE TYPED IN PTA IN THE SCRATCH PAD AND ON THE LEGS PAGE, SELECTED 1L. AN OPTION TO SELECT THE CORRECT PTA WAS NOT GIVEN SO ALL OF THE WAYPOINTS ALONG OUR RTE UP TO PUERTO PLATA WOULD HAVE BEEN ERASED. TO OUR SURPRISE, ONCE AGAIN ALL OF THE WAYPOINTS BTWN EZE AND PUERTO PLATA WOULD HAVE BEEN ERASED, IE, THE FMS DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE FACT THAT WE WANTED TO GO TO LA PLATA FIRST -- NOT PUERTO PLATA. WE DEPARTED USING RAW DATA. WHAT'S GOING ON?
