Narrative:

Flight was cleared for descent with a crossing restr of 12000 ft at mazat (as told to expect on the plate). I looked at our location and the fix. The captain and first officer were discussing the descent, so I went back to the flight engineer panel to finish descent preparation. As we approached the fix, it became questionable whether we would make the crossing restr. The rate of descent was increased and center was informed that it was going to be close. We were vectored off the arrival for an uneventful 360 degree turn to resume the arrival. Next time, I will take the time to listen to, and doublechk, the front seat crew.
