Narrative:

Flight plan showed MEL item for broken seatbelt on seat X. Seatbelt was found in cockpit verifying MEL on flight plan. Logbook showed broken seat back on seat X. MEL deferral should have been another MEL number. This was not caught until airborne and en route. Closer attention should have been paid to the corresponding maintenance signoff. Aircraft had this placard for 2 days previous to this flight.

Title: B737 ACFT LOG SHOWED MEL FOR BROKEN SEAT BACK WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR A BROKEN SEATBELT. NOT NOTICED BY THE CREW UNTIL AFTER AIRBORNE.

Narrative: FLT PLAN SHOWED MEL ITEM FOR BROKEN SEATBELT ON SEAT X. SEATBELT WAS FOUND IN COCKPIT VERIFYING MEL ON FLT PLAN. LOGBOOK SHOWED BROKEN SEAT BACK ON SEAT X. MEL DEFERRAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER MEL NUMBER. THIS WAS NOT CAUGHT UNTIL AIRBORNE AND ENRTE. CLOSER ATTN SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID TO THE CORRESPONDING MAINT SIGNOFF. ACFT HAD THIS PLACARD FOR 2 DAYS PREVIOUS TO THIS FLT.
