Narrative:

I received clearance to descend to what I believed to be 10000 ft. This was to accommodate my arrival to the indianapolis metropolitan airport (ump). I readback the clearance and set the altitude alerter to 10000 ft. After I was level, the indy approach controller told me to change frequency to grissom approach, but also asked what my clearance altitude was. I told him 10000 ft. He replied, 'it was 11000 ft. I must have missed your readback.' I stated that I had read back 10000 ft. He then cleared me to change frequency. There was nothing stated to me by ATC of this occurrence causing any deviation or negative effects to any other aircraft or ATC operations.
