Narrative:

The problem arose as we taxied from the gate. Our flight attendant alerted us to the cabin filling with smoke. We took immediate action and taxied back to the gate. We believe it was due to a bad pack air conditioning system. After the flight attendant alerted us to the smoke, we assessed the situation. We parked the aircraft and turned the environmental control system (air conditioning) off. I asked her to go look for any indication of a fire. She called us 1 min later and told us there was no fire, but the smoke was getting worse. At that time we called ground and told them we were taxiing back to the gate due to smoke in the cabin. We arrived to the gate in less than 2 mins. We deplaned the passenger through the main cabin door. The fire trucks had arrived by this time and inspected the aircraft for any signs of fire. I elected not to do an emergency evacuate/evacuation earlier because there was no sign of fire. Rather than risk injury to the passenger, we taxied back to the gate.
