Narrative:
While conducting IOE, after receiving a last min/somewhat ambiguous clearance to join the yeast 1 SID, while sorting out the navigation question, the PF (student) flew through the cleared altitude of 9000 ft by approximately 400 ft. The deviation was immediately recognized with a quick descent back to 9000 ft without incident.
