Narrative:

While climbing to assigned altitude of 7000 ft and then reaching altitude, with autoplt, with altitude hold. At assigned altitude, punched altitude hold. Aircraft seemed to level. Distraction by other duties. Aircraft continued to slowly climb because of our out of trim condition. At 8000 ft, controller asked if I was going to remain at 8000 ft or climb to 9000 ft. Immediately realized I had failed to activate electric trim and aircraft had continued climb. Apologized and asked for 9000 ft. Controller stated no problem.
