Narrative:

After selecting the gear down, the nose gear did not come down and lock with a green light. We did a go around and in the climb out, the nose gear came down and locked with a green light. We got all the bells and lights of a 'gear unsafe.' we did not have to do that checklist because the gear came down before we got to the checklist. We landed uneventfully. We did, however, have crash fire rescue equipment meet us. In retrospect, I probably could have had the cabin attendants prepare for a possible evacuate/evacuation. I did call the cabin attendants up and explain the problem. The first officer and the cabin attendants did a great job. All went well.
