Narrative:

Assigned to cross the shonn intersection on the sketr 2 arrival, following approved deviation around thunderstorm over rwf VORTAC. Initiated descent late. Descent was shallow due to power application to monitor anti-icing system. Captain informed center that aircraft would not make crossing restr as published at shonn intersection and requested 'relief.' center replied 'just do the best that you can.' aircraft reached the assigned altitude 3 mi late at the fcm 248 degree radial, 028 DME. As first officer and PF, I should have initiated the descent earlier and monitored it more closely to ensure making the proper crossing restr.
