Narrative:

During arrival to las on the fuzzy arrival. Thunderstorms were reported and seen on radar in the area of the arrival. We asked ZLA which was the best way to deviate and they said everyone was going around fuzzy to the north. Using this information and our radar picture, we requested and received clearance to deviate left of course. As soon as we proceeded to where we were directly abeam the thunderstorm, the controller told us to come back right, to stay clear of hot military airspace. Due to the WX on our right (south), we had to continue straight for at least 10 mi before we could turn back right. Shortly thereafter, the controller informed us we had entered active military airspace and to turn right when able. After 10 NM we were able to return to the right and resume the arrival. The center controller handed us off to las approach with no further comment. Upon landing, I called ZLA and talked to an unnamed supervisor, explained what had happened and he said he did not see any problem.

Title: MD80 CREW ENTERED RESTR MIL AIRSPACE IN ORDER TO AVOID TSTM PENETRATION IN ZLA CLASS A. THE RADAR CTLR PREVIOUSLY ADVISED THE CREW TSTMS COULD BE AVOIDED ON THIS TRACK.

Narrative: DURING ARR TO LAS ON THE FUZZY ARR. TSTMS WERE RPTED AND SEEN ON RADAR IN THE AREA OF THE ARR. WE ASKED ZLA WHICH WAS THE BEST WAY TO DEVIATE AND THEY SAID EVERYONE WAS GOING AROUND FUZZY TO THE N. USING THIS INFO AND OUR RADAR PICTURE, WE REQUESTED AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO DEVIATE L OF COURSE. AS SOON AS WE PROCEEDED TO WHERE WE WERE DIRECTLY ABEAM THE TSTM, THE CTLR TOLD US TO COME BACK R, TO STAY CLR OF HOT MIL AIRSPACE. DUE TO THE WX ON OUR R (S), WE HAD TO CONTINUE STRAIGHT FOR AT LEAST 10 MI BEFORE WE COULD TURN BACK R. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE CTLR INFORMED US WE HAD ENTERED ACTIVE MIL AIRSPACE AND TO TURN R WHEN ABLE. AFTER 10 NM WE WERE ABLE TO RETURN TO THE R AND RESUME THE ARR. THE CTR CTLR HANDED US OFF TO LAS APCH WITH NO FURTHER COMMENT. UPON LNDG, I CALLED ZLA AND TALKED TO AN UNNAMED SUPVR, EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HE SAID HE DID NOT SEE ANY PROB.
