Narrative:
Almost did a runway incursion. Was holding short of runway 7R/25L on B9 waiting to cross sbound to south ramp. I was flying. The aircraft's owner and his wife were chatting when I thought I heard ground clear us to cross runway 7R. As I released the brakes and started to power up to cross, another aircraft acknowledged the transmission. At that point I realized the clearance was not for me. Luckily I had not crossed the hold short line. I cannot emphasize [enough] how a sterile cockpit would have prevented this near incursion.

Title: C182 PLT CATCHES HIMSELF PRIOR TO RWY INCURSION WHEN HEARING ANOTHER PLT ACKNOWLEDGE TAXI CLRNC.
Narrative: ALMOST DID A RWY INCURSION. WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 7R/25L ON B9 WAITING TO CROSS SBOUND TO S RAMP. I WAS FLYING. THE ACFT'S OWNER AND HIS WIFE WERE CHATTING WHEN I THOUGHT I HEARD GND CLR US TO CROSS RWY 7R. AS I RELEASED THE BRAKES AND STARTED TO PWR UP TO CROSS, ANOTHER ACFT ACKNOWLEDGED THE XMISSION. AT THAT POINT I REALIZED THE CLRNC WAS NOT FOR ME. LUCKILY I HAD NOT CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE [ENOUGH] HOW A STERILE COCKPIT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS NEAR INCURSION.
