Narrative:

While in cruise, nearing fwa, changed radio settings on audio panel to get fwa ATIS on communication #2 prior to landing at fwa. I inadvertently switched the audio panel input from communication #1 (fwa approach) off. When approximately 8 NM from fwa, called 2-3 times for radio check, as I had not received expected vectors and descent. After not hearing response from ATC, rechked radio and audio panel settings, correct problem, got instructions for visual approach, and landed without incident. In future I will doublechk radio settings periodically. I noticed no traffic conflicts.
