Narrative:

Aircraft checked on my frequency, no problem, level at 17000 ft. Subsequently called ZMA and said call sign. I suspected something was wrong and notified the previous controller of the situation because the aircraft was still in his airspace jurisdiction. The pilot informed me he wanted to divert to fll. I cleared him to fll and told him to maintain 17000 ft. I told him to contact the previous controller on 132.15. While I was coordinating the new destination, I heard the pilot check in and request the nearest airport -- he had lost control. He regained control at 10000 ft and had experienced severe icing. The aircraft landed safely, but was later indented as being unairworthy to fly again.
