Narrative:

Pilot reported his ram air temperature was reading 28 degrees on ground at the gate (ZZZ). When I went to the aircraft, the temperature was reading 12 degrees, which was close to the temperature of the day. Xy was the mechanic assisting me at the time. He sprayed coolant on the ram air temperature probe and the temperature indicator did go down in temperature. The gauge seemed to be working alright. Both xy and I decided to change the gauge in case of a problem in the air conditioning -- the temperature problem. I was in the cockpit and xy handed me the part and I changed the indicator. When doing the part change in the logbook, I did not notice the different dash numbers of the parts. Mar/xa/01 the problem was discovered, and the part changed to the correct dash number.

Title: A DC9-30 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE INCORRECT RAM AIR TEMP ENG PRESSURE RATIO INDICATOR.

Narrative: PLT RPTED HIS RAM AIR TEMP WAS READING 28 DEGS ON GND AT THE GATE (ZZZ). WHEN I WENT TO THE ACFT, THE TEMP WAS READING 12 DEGS, WHICH WAS CLOSE TO THE TEMP OF THE DAY. XY WAS THE MECH ASSISTING ME AT THE TIME. HE SPRAYED COOLANT ON THE RAM AIR TEMP PROBE AND THE TEMP INDICATOR DID GO DOWN IN TEMP. THE GAUGE SEEMED TO BE WORKING ALRIGHT. BOTH XY AND I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE GAUGE IN CASE OF A PROB IN THE AIR CONDITIONING -- THE TEMP PROB. I WAS IN THE COCKPIT AND XY HANDED ME THE PART AND I CHANGED THE INDICATOR. WHEN DOING THE PART CHANGE IN THE LOGBOOK, I DID NOT NOTICE THE DIFFERENT DASH NUMBERS OF THE PARTS. MAR/XA/01 THE PROB WAS DISCOVERED, AND THE PART CHANGED TO THE CORRECT DASH NUMBER.
