Narrative:

In cruise ZZZ-hnl at FL310, early in flight, had cycling low pressure light on #2 generator idg. After a while this became steady and the #2 generator dropped off line. Conferred with ZZZ maintenance and followed pom abnormal procedures. Maintenance and captain agreed best course to stop in lax to effect repairs. Backed up by guidance in MEL for 3 generator outbound ocean crossing. Overweight landing made with no further incident. Clearance made with ATC and ZZZ notified. Maintenance stated metal particles found in idg and lines.
