Narrative:

First time into pvg, night, IMC, backside of clock, transiting from ft to meters. Captain was rsv-AAA and first officer was rsv-BBB.(human factors/clear issues) filed route: akara-pinot-hsh. Did not have any information on which arrival to expect. Loaded runway 35 with HSH11A transition. 2-3 miles prior to pinot, approach cleared us for SHY11A (NOTHSH11A) first officer flying. Captain went to department/arrival page and selected SHY11A-RWY35. Now cleared down to 6000M. Looked up and saw a blue route on screen then it went away. Nothing available to navigate to/with. Now over pinot int with no LNAV. Told first officer to turn to 230 heading and fly to shy VOR. The navigation rad page and fix page lost all it information. Starting to slow. No speed bugs avail. On airspeed. Went to approach page. No gross weight information. Entered approximately gw and the page went blank again. We never did get the gw to stay and never did get speed bugs on a/south indicator. First officer was able to get shy into navigation rad page and used bearing pointer to fly to shy VOR. 2 miles prior to shy I was able to put shy into legs page and we then had LNAV. 2-3 miles prior to fafirst officerm finally able to get ILS for 35 into the computer. Flew ILS/partial visibility to successful landing to 35. We were ferrying fuel, so our gw was approximately maximum for lnd. Caused a high appr speed. With amber vls rt at approach speed. We weren't sure if we might not get a stick shaker! Language was another problem.
