Narrative:

We pushed on time, called ground for taxi. Good visibility, good WX. The txwys were patchy thin ice, some areas more ice than other areas. We taxied out with engine anti-ice on due to the clutter on the txwys. We taxied via taxiway T, crossed runway 5L, taxiway D, right on taxiway south, hold short runway 5R. (Taxi clearance issued by ground controller.) we read the checklist on taxiway T and were on the checklist. We proceeded down taxiway D. We were both heads-up. As we approached taxiway south, the captain applied brakes to make the turn onto taxiway south, when the airplane slid and shuddered. We stopped well short of hold line for runway 5R. We then advised tower of the braking action as nil on the corner of taxiway D and taxiway south. We could have stopped taxi onto taxiway south, but we decided that it would be too close to the edge to make the turn. Tower advised us to hold short of taxiway 5R for landing traffic. We then taxied via tower instructions onto taxiway 5R, then taxiway S1 and to hold short runway 5R. We then took off and once through 10000 ft, we called back the times (on/off) and advised operations of the braking action as nil taxiway D and taxiway south. About 1/2 way through the flight, company operations called 'corner of' via ats call. The captain took the call and explained the braking action was nil at corner of taxiway D and taxiway south. No other communication took place (via ATC or company). We never broke any FAA regulations or company regulations. We missed taxiway south because of the conditions of the txwys! We were well short of the active runways. As winter is here, it's important to be aware of these txwys in the northeast. Even though they may look clear, ice can still be present.

Title: B737-700 CREW ENCOUNTERED ICE ON A TXWY AT PVD.

Narrative: WE PUSHED ON TIME, CALLED GND FOR TAXI. GOOD VISIBILITY, GOOD WX. THE TXWYS WERE PATCHY THIN ICE, SOME AREAS MORE ICE THAN OTHER AREAS. WE TAXIED OUT WITH ENG ANTI-ICE ON DUE TO THE CLUTTER ON THE TXWYS. WE TAXIED VIA TXWY T, CROSSED RWY 5L, TXWY D, R ON TXWY S, HOLD SHORT RWY 5R. (TAXI CLRNC ISSUED BY GND CTLR.) WE READ THE CHKLIST ON TXWY T AND WERE ON THE CHKLIST. WE PROCEEDED DOWN TXWY D. WE WERE BOTH HEADS-UP. AS WE APCHED TXWY S, THE CAPT APPLIED BRAKES TO MAKE THE TURN ONTO TXWY S, WHEN THE AIRPLANE SLID AND SHUDDERED. WE STOPPED WELL SHORT OF HOLD LINE FOR RWY 5R. WE THEN ADVISED TWR OF THE BRAKING ACTION AS NIL ON THE CORNER OF TXWY D AND TXWY S. WE COULD HAVE STOPPED TAXI ONTO TXWY S, BUT WE DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE TO MAKE THE TURN. TWR ADVISED US TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY 5R FOR LNDG TFC. WE THEN TAXIED VIA TWR INSTRUCTIONS ONTO TXWY 5R, THEN TXWY S1 AND TO HOLD SHORT RWY 5R. WE THEN TOOK OFF AND ONCE THROUGH 10000 FT, WE CALLED BACK THE TIMES (ON/OFF) AND ADVISED OPS OF THE BRAKING ACTION AS NIL TXWY D AND TXWY S. ABOUT 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE FLT, COMPANY OPS CALLED 'CORNER OF' VIA ATS CALL. THE CAPT TOOK THE CALL AND EXPLAINED THE BRAKING ACTION WAS NIL AT CORNER OF TXWY D AND TXWY S. NO OTHER COM TOOK PLACE (VIA ATC OR COMPANY). WE NEVER BROKE ANY FAA REGS OR COMPANY REGS. WE MISSED TXWY S BECAUSE OF THE CONDITIONS OF THE TXWYS! WE WERE WELL SHORT OF THE ACTIVE RWYS. AS WINTER IS HERE, IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE AWARE OF THESE TXWYS IN THE NE. EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY LOOK CLR, ICE CAN STILL BE PRESENT.
