Narrative:

We received the VFR clearance from gregg county ground for a VFR training flight into the south practice area, as well as instructions to depart from runway 13 at intersection H. Both runways 13 and 17 are normally used for departures from intersection H. After completing the engine run-up and the before takeoff checklist, we received our takeoff clearance from runway 13 intersection H. My student taxied in position for departure from runway 17 and immediately began the takeoff roll. It wasn't until we reached rotation speed that I realized the predicament. By that time the tower subsequently cleared us for a departure from runway 17 to climb runway heading. Fortunately there were no other aircraft using or crossing runway 17 so our mistake did not create a hazard. A factor of the incident may have been fatigue on both the student's and my behalf. Ultimately, copying and readback of instructions from tower, and proper rest, and attention by the instructor could have prevented this incident.

Title: A C172 TRAINING FLT DEPARTS FROM RWY 17 WHEN PREVIOUSLY CLRED FOR RWY 13 AT GGG, TX.

Narrative: WE RECEIVED THE VFR CLRNC FROM GREGG COUNTY GND FOR A VFR TRAINING FLT INTO THE S PRACTICE AREA, AS WELL AS INSTRUCTIONS TO DEPART FROM RWY 13 AT INTXN H. BOTH RWYS 13 AND 17 ARE NORMALLY USED FOR DEPS FROM INTXN H. AFTER COMPLETING THE ENG RUN-UP AND THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST, WE RECEIVED OUR TKOF CLRNC FROM RWY 13 INTXN H. MY STUDENT TAXIED IN POS FOR DEP FROM RWY 17 AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN THE TKOF ROLL. IT WASN'T UNTIL WE REACHED ROTATION SPD THAT I REALIZED THE PREDICAMENT. BY THAT TIME THE TWR SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED US FOR A DEP FROM RWY 17 TO CLB RWY HEADING. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT USING OR XING RWY 17 SO OUR MISTAKE DID NOT CREATE A HAZARD. A FACTOR OF THE INCIDENT MAY HAVE BEEN FATIGUE ON BOTH THE STUDENT'S AND MY BEHALF. ULTIMATELY, COPYING AND READBACK OF INSTRUCTIONS FROM TWR, AND PROPER REST, AND ATTN BY THE INSTRUCTOR COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS INCIDENT.
