Narrative:

This was a scheduled part 121 passenger flight from lga to ind. On the takeoff roll, an amber caution message illuminated on the EICAS. The takeoff was aborted. Tower was notified. Taxiing clear of the runway the message disappeared and all system appeared normal. As a precaution, we taxied back to the gate to have maintenance check it over. They could not find a problem or duplicate the situation. We then taxied back out for an uneventful takeoff. We neglected to enter the cas message in the aircraft discrepancy logbook. I believe that there are 3 contributing factors to this mistake. The first was that we had already been on duty for 12 hours after having only 8 yrs (minimum rest) of rest the night before. The second was that this was captain IOE for me and I deferred to the 2 other individuals, the director of maintenance and the check airman, who had more experience and authority/authorized than I. Thirdly, the aircraft wasn't broken. All system seemed to be operating normally. Maintenance could find nothing wrong. Supplemental information from acn 498192: aborted takeoff roll while on runway 13 at lga for amber EICAS caution message 'bleed sov fail' while on taxiway message cleared itself. Returned to the gate. Informed maintenance supervisor on duty of event. After engine runup was performed by maintenance without duplication of message, aircraft was returned to service. Subsequent departure followed without event.
