Narrative:

It was my leg from champaign, il, to st louis, mo. We were taking off on runway 32L. About 2 seconds after we advanced the power levers for takeoff, we got a baggage door cap light. The captain then took back control of the aircraft and we aborted the takeoff. We exited the runway at the first taxiway, and as we did the bag door cap extinguished. At this time I told the captain that I have heard from some senior capts at the company that this is a common occurrence on this airplane in the winter when de-ice fluid is used for deicing. I believe that it can effect the microswitch in the door giving a faulty indication. This afternoon we had been de-iced prior to departure. I informed the captain of this and we decided to return back to the gate to have the ground personnel check, and recycle the door. The door was opened and reclosed, and at this time the switch operated normally. The cap came on when they opened the door, and extinguished when they closed it and ground personnel ensured the door was shut and locked. The captain asked me if I was comfortable with this, and I said yes since the door was shut with the cap light extinguished. We proceeded to take off and make our flight back to stl without ever having the bag door cap come on again.
